Taper for the Orcas 50k has begun! Had a 12 mile run on my plan, but ended up running a 14 mile route instead. Wasn't too worried about the extra mileage - had skipped my speed run workout so I was behind. All my runs this week have included running up Freemont and I hope that I am paying the pain forward. Hear that Mt. Constitution?

I thought that my long run was supposed to be 19 miles so I did a route starting with a loop around Seward Park, back through the Arboretum, over Univ Bridge to Gasworks, then home via Freemont.

When I got home, I learned that it was actually supposed to be only 17 miles. BUMMER!

Swim practice this morning included a "fun" set of 100's (5x100 on 1:50,5x100 on 1:45, 4x100 on 1:40, 4x100 on 1:35). Was a bit scared of the last set but made it through. Then spent the remainder of the day doing homework.

Won't even try to catch up at this point - just moving forward.

Got in a run this morning and even though my last run (hill repeats) was on Tuesday and I only swam on Wednesday, I was feeling tired.

Went to Seattle Fitness' Boot Camp class in the evening and dispute the theory of muscle memory. As a child, I was good at jump rope but my muscles apparently have no memory now...

Yoga class was HARD this morning but I was not the only one barely making it through...we all vowed to be better next week! Laurie also gave me hamstring homework to do every day - she wants to help me touch my toes within 2010~!

Today's run was 15 miles and I decided on a route from home, to and around Lake Union and back. Felt good starting out despite the cold warning symptoms I was feeling last night. Was definitely tired the last 40 minutes (most uphill). I also tried to just drink Nuun, with the thought that I would also include an energy bar. Apparently my old habits followed me into 2010 and I did not eat a thing but still maintained a 9:15 pace although I was whipped when I got home!

I pretty much dissolved into a puddle after yesterday's Sun Salutations - I was pretty exhausted both physically and mentally and happily crawled from the couch into bed at 7:30.

My swim lane had 7 people in it so I swam down a lane and was pretty glad I did. My shoulders were sore from yesterday and the pace was just my speed!

We got home around 1 AM from Georgia. I was over-cookied, under-sleeped and still on East Coast time. I had registered for the 108 Sun Salutations Workshop I attended last year on the first day of the New Year. I discovered that I am slightly less flexible but stronger this year. Bring on 2010!
